Christmas Eve

On Christmas Eve (Cape Light)On Christmas Eve by Thomas Kinkade

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Another wonderful Christmas novel by Kinkade and Spencer about the little town of Cape Light and its inhabitants. This time, part of the story centers around Lucy and her husband, Charlie. When a sick, smart-mouthed teen lands in their diner, Lucy and Charlie come to a battle over her. Lucy wants to take her home and Charlie, of course, wants her gone. The other part of the story focuses on busy Betty Bowman. When she bumps into a handsome man while catering, she never realizes that she will fall in love with Santa himself!!

Take Four

Take Four (Above the Line #4)Take Four by Karen Kingsbury

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Last in the series, Above the Line, Kingsbury finishes the story of Keith and Dayne of Jeremiah Productions making the inspirational film, Unlocked, and Andi, Keith's daughter rethinks giving her baby up for adoption. Cody discovers, to his dismay, that his mother is still using drugs and tries to pull away from Bailey, so that it doesn't taint her stardom from playing one of the lead roles in Unlocked.

A Christmas Blizzard

A Christmas BlizzardA Christmas Blizzard by Garrison Keillor

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

A decidedly different book about Christmas! Laugh-out-loud humor follows James Sparrow, a millionaire (previous life: bank robber)who doesn't like Christmas or winter and who has "pump handle syndrome" - the fear of sticking your tongue on a frozen pump handle or any metal object and never being able to pull it off w/o ripping your tongue! When James has to fly back to his hometown of Looseleaf, North Dakota, he must face his fears and his family.

Children of the Flames

Children of the Flames: Dr. Josef Mengele and the Untold Story of the Twins of AuschwitzChildren of the Flames: Dr. Josef Mengele and the Untold Story of the Twins of Auschwitz by Lucette Matalon Lagnado

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Difficult to read and understand the depth of the horror twin siblings had to face in Auschwitz at the hand of Dr Josef Mengele. Written in 1991, by the widow of one of the Auschwitz twins, Alex Dekel, and collaborated on with Lucette Lagnado, Children of the Flames is an extremely moving book about the surviving twins and the Angel of Death who destroyed their families and made them suffer horrendous experiments.

A Chesapeake Shores Christmas

A Chesapeake Shores ChristmasA Chesapeake Shores Christmas by Sherryl Woods

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Another little quick-read Christmas fiction just in time for the holidays. Sherryl Woods continues her O'Brian series with Megan & Mick ready to tie the knot on New Year's Eve, but of course a little something arrives to throw the whole family and marriage plans in turmoil. This was my first read about the O'Brians, so I had a bit of trouble with the background of the characters, although Woods does fill in a bit with previous circumstances.
