falling together

Falling TogetherFalling Together by Marisa de los Santos
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The first day of college is always a wee bit traumatic. Finding and connecting with a new friend is great and bonding with two is even better! So when fate brought Pen, Cat, and Will together in a small bathroom, their friendship was obviously meant to be and the threesome stays rock strong until adult reality hits - Cat gets married and Pen and Will are just an uncomfortable twosome. Vowing never to contact each other again, the three stay apart until many years later - Cat summons them both with an out-of-the-blue email. Suddenly Pen and Will are jetting across the country and heading to the Philippines in search of the elusive, tiny Cat.

A wonderful, anytime read, I have only read two books by this author and loved them both! Her characters, who talk hilariously to themselves, are so interesting and deep that you would want to friend them for life! This is a story of loss, love and deep friendship that turns into love...

The Goodbye Quilt

The Goodbye QuiltThe Goodbye Quilt by Susan Wiggs

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Linda & Dan Davis's only child, and daughter at that, Molly, is ready to head off to college - clean on the East Coast. Linda has been been piecing together a lovely quilt of Molly's life - articles of clothing, badges, ribbon, and whatnot. When Linda decides to drive Molly to college, from their MidWestern home across all those miles, she decides to take the quilt with them and hopes to finish it along the way. Many memories and emotions are tied into the quilt and the trip becomes quite a journey. As the odometer climbs, so does Linda's emotions and she tries to find a way to let go and let Molly find her own way.

Thrown in between chapters are wonderful little tidbits - quotes by quilters, poets, and writers. This book is so well written and Susan Wiggs explains every up and down emotion Moms go through while letting their children grow up and leave.

Take Four

Take Four (Above the Line #4)Take Four by Karen Kingsbury

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Last in the series, Above the Line, Kingsbury finishes the story of Keith and Dayne of Jeremiah Productions making the inspirational film, Unlocked, and Andi, Keith's daughter rethinks giving her baby up for adoption. Cody discovers, to his dismay, that his mother is still using drugs and tries to pull away from Bailey, so that it doesn't taint her stardom from playing one of the lead roles in Unlocked.
