An Island Christmas

An Island ChristmasAn Island Christmas by Nancy Thayer
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Jilly can't wait for her daughter, Felicia, to be back for her Nantucket wedding. Nevermind that Jilly doesn't care for Felicia's betrothed, Archie, or the house must be merrily and perfectly decorated for the reception or the cat that she and her husband just adopted will climb the tree. Lots of humor pours forth as Jilly has to lay down her ideas of the dream wedding that she had in mind.

Wonderful reminders to lay down our own "perceptions of a perfect Christmas"...

I love these little Christmas morsels and eagerly eat them up way too quickly! Set against the bleak, cold, snowy backdrop of New York City, love and the humanity of man is found again...

Christmas Bliss

After reading Blue Christmas awhile back, it was fun to read about the double duo of "Weezie" and "Bebe" again - two great friends that have each others backs. Weezie is about to be married, on Christmas Day to boot, when she discovers her fiancee, a chef, may be canoodling with his boss in NYC. Even though the wedding is only days away and her dress isn't finished, Weezie flies off to the city to find out the truth. On the other hand, Bebe, to her horror, discovers that the divorce to her first husband was never filed. Determined to track down her ex and force him to sign the papers, Bebe, pregnant and ready to pop, hides the fact from her beloved baby daddy. Our favorite cast of characters are back and you can't help but giggle at these two fun-loving, trouble-finding, crazy gals and their adventures. A light and fluffy read!!

The Wedding Dress

The Wedding DressThe Wedding Dress by Rachel Hauck
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

When Charlotte, owner of a classy, contemporary bridal boutique, finds a vintage bridal gown in an old, locked trunk bought from an estate sale, she can't get over the amazing quality and new look to the dress. Charlotte doesn't even consider using the dress for her own upcoming wedding, but she does question the history and secrets of the lovely satin gown. As she searches for past owners, Charlotte's own fading love story pales comparison and she yearns for a true and lasting love of her own.

The story is told from many viewpoints, but only 4 beautiful women will wear the gown.. for now...

The Christmas Wedding

The Christmas WeddingThe Christmas Wedding by James Patterson

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Gaby is planning a Christmas wedding - her own, but she is the only person who knows who the groom will be! It's a secret! She does have it narrowed down to three men - who have all ask for her hand. It will be Gaby's second marriage, as her first husband died years ago and her family hasn't been together since. She wants all her four children to come home from all parts of the country and she teases them into coming back by sending them five videos. Romantic, sad, mysterious, and funny, this book is a wonderful read as the holidays draw closer.

I usually do not read James Patterson and this little novel is unlike his thrillers - a very, enjoyable read. Down to the very end, when Gaby was waiting up front on her groom - I was still trying to guess which one of her three friends would be the lucky man!

The Wedding Promise

The Wedding PromiseThe Wedding Promise by Thomas Kinkade

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

As Liza continues transforming her inn on Angel Island, she is approached by an excited couple who knew her Aunt Elizabeth and wish to be married outside the inn in the gardens. But Liza has never put on a wedding and isn't sure she can handle the job, especially with the inn still being in disrepair. Her friend Claire and Daniel, the local carpenter and handyman, encourage Liza with the promise that her aunt would have been thrilled to accommodate the young, romantic couple. When Daniel asks Liza out on a date, she hopes that this handsome, funny man will continue to stay in her life.

A sweet, easy read with some of our favorite characters from the town of Cape Light combined with a few miracles thrown in for good measure.
