I'll Be Seeing You

I'll Be Seeing YouI'll Be Seeing You by Suzanne Hayes
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Rita Vincenzo and Glory Whitehall have become pen pals..their men are off fighting in World War II. As different as night is to day, Rita and Glory, manage to connect, share, learn, and support each other as only women can do, especially faced with the uncertainties of war..

This wonderful story is told from the correspondence between the two women as the United States enters the war. If you love books set in this particular era, this is a must read. I am looking forward to the two author's new writings...

four friends

Four FriendsFour Friends by Robyn Carr
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Three women, Gerri, Andy, and Sonja, have a fantastic friendship, live on the same street, and power walk at 6am together every morn - how perfect is that? (although I can't even imagine being awake at 6am let alone power walking, grrr...) BJ has just recently moved to the area and is quite aloof, runs every morning but is quietly keeping a big secret she's not ready to share. Three of the four women will soon find that her marriage has been unraveling for quite awhile and when it does - it happens in a big way...BJ will come to be the friend that steps in, sees what needs done, and helps pick up the pieces.

This is the first book by Robyn Carr I've read although I've heard about her Virgin River series. She was an author I hoped to catch up with eventually and I'm very glad I did! You'll be giggling after some chapters and empathizing after others. Readers of Kristin Hannah will enjoy her writing.

The Friday Night Knitting Club

The Friday Night Knitting ClubThe Friday Night Knitting Club by Kate Jacobs
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I suppose being a crafty woman, thanks to my Gma Fazenbaker and my momma, I enjoyed this book. I am a new knitter, knitting scarfs for presents with eyelash yarn combined with a sturdier second and the pull of the women sitting around the shop, knitting, making mistakes and pulling them out, chatting, eating munchies made by shop owner Georgia Walker's teen daughter Dakota sucked me right into the storyline. Georgia is a strong, independent woman - making a living for herself and Dakota in the second story above a Manhattan meat market. Third floor, right up the steps, is their digs. Work is life and life is work when Georgia's ex walks back into the picture, ready to pursue a relationship with his only daughter, throwing everything in a tailspin. Georgia's clients/friends have her back but who can help when the doctors give her an unexpected diagnosis?
